Spanish activists have failed in a campaign to make life easier for the local donkeys that tourists ride. Their proposal to limit the weight of those wishing to ride to 80 kilograms ended in failure, the Spanish media write.
The campaign was launched in the south of the country, where this entertainment is in great demand. Riding donkeys here is one of the "attractions", especially in small towns in Spain.
Local authorities considered the requirement to limit the weight for those wishing to ride not necessary, because there is "no problem."
However, according to activists, this is not at all the case. Everyone remembers an incident in the province of Cordoba in 2014, when a 38-year-old large-build tourist jumped on a donkey, killing the animal a few days later.
