The Spanish national holiday "ensierro" (bull run) ended dramatically on September 1 in Catalonia, Spain. A bull that escaped from the pen before the start of the holiday injured 17 people, one of whom is in serious condition, Spanish media reported.
Residents of a small town in Catalonia gathered to enjoy the national spectacle of the "bull run". But unexpectedly, one of the animals participating in the race jumped over the fence and attacked the audience, who were crowding in anticipation of the performance.
The police managed to stop the aggressive bull with a shot, but 17 people were injured in the incident.
Two are in serious condition, local authorities say.
