Large-fruited "Bull's Heart" tomatoes and other varieties: when to plant for seedlings

Tomatoes are a thermophilic culture, so the seeds are immediately planted on seedlings, and only about two months later in open ground. The timing of planting tomatoes is different and depends on several conditions: the variety, the climatic conditions of the region, the place of planting seedlings. In order to get a good harvest in the future, you should be responsible for the selection of seeds, soil preparation and plant care.

Features of the variety

Large-fruited varieties of tomatoes have excellent taste, which allows them to be used for making salads, ketchups, pastes, and juice. Not suitable for canning and pickling. Most of them are late ripening, but there are early and middle ripening periods. Suitable for greenhouses as well as for planting in the ground. They are determinant and indeterminate.

Disembarkation by maturity

The varieties of early ripening include the Heavyweight of Siberia, Raspberry Giant, Gina. If the tomatoes are to be transplanted into a greenhouse, then sowing seeds for seedlings should start from the second half of March. Low-growing seeds should be planted in April (from the beginning to the middle of the month). For sowing in the ground - planting is recommended from the beginning of April.

Mid- and late-ripening tomato species (Bull's Heart, Bear's Paw, Scorpio) are recommended to be planted for seedlings at the end of the last winter month or at the beginning of March. For greenhouse tomatoes, the sowing time can be moved to mid-February. Tall tomato species should be planted 1-1.5 weeks earlier.

Landing by region

Each region of the country has its own weather conditions, therefore, planting operations will vary in time.

On the territory of the middle zone, planting of seedlings in the ground is carried out approximately in mid-May. Therefore, sowing seeds begins in March. The southern regions are characterized by a warm and humid climate already in the month of April. Here the landing begins earlier than anything else - in January - early February. But for the northern regions, late-ripening varieties are not recommended, since in such climatic conditions the fruits do not have time to ripen. Sowing seeds for seedlings for the regions of Siberia, Altai Territory, and the Urals is carried out from late February to mid-March.

Moon calendar

Favorable days for planting will be the days when the night "star" is growing. New Moon and Full Moon are considered bad days for planting events. Fertile zodiac signs: Cancer, Taurus, Scorpio and Pisces. It is believed that garden crops planted on these days will bring a good harvest.

In order for the seedlings to start well, it is necessary to prepare and disinfect the soil, select good large seeds and provide the plants with the necessary watering, feeding and lighting.
