They also managed to bring out a peony of an unusual yellow color. The Americans went even further and developed a beautiful hybrid plant in 1986.
The Bartzella cultivar is the result of crossing a tree and herbaceous peony. In height, it can reach 1 meter, has a characteristic Japanese shape with a lemon tint, and in the center with a red or dark pink color. In the photo, you can see that the flower reaches almost 1/4 meter in diameter, has a pleasant and unobtrusive aroma. The dark green carved foliage remains attractive throughout the season, it does not lose its decorative qualities.
An adult bush may have up to two dozen inflorescences... Strong stems of the plant do not need support or tying. The shape of the bush always remains unchanged. After cutting, the flowers stay in the vase for a long time, a longer period of time than other varieties of Ito peonies-hybrids. The bartzella peony blooms in mid-June and lasts for about 1 month.
Planting and leaving
The plant is durable, it can grow in one place for decades. A sunny and moderately warm place is ideal for him. Peony should not be shaded by buildings or large trees. For a peony to thrive, it needs fresh soil, rich in nutrients and without stagnant water. The plant will not be able to thrive in heavy, airtight soils.
During planting, you need to ensure that the kidneys are located at a depth of 3-5 cm from the ground level... If the planting is done incorrectly, the plant will not bloom. Varietal qualities after transplanting will appear only for 2-3 years.
A hole for planting must be dug in advance so that the soil subsides. The approximate size of the pit for bartzella is 60X60 cm.The bottom of the pit must be lined with a mixture consisting of equal parts:
- peat,
- sand;
- garden planting land.
Plant needs primary feeding, which will mainly depend on the composition of the soil. Most often it is recommended to use the following composition:
- 150 grams of superphosphate;
- ash can;
- 1 tablespoon of iron sulfate.
Features of care and reproduction
It is believed that caring for bartzella is not difficult, but it must be ideal so that the beauty grows for a long time and pleases with her charming appearance.
Peony Ito-hybrid Bartzella needs abundant watering, but during watering it is imperative to make sure that moisture leaves and does not stagnate under the bush.On hot summer days, an adult bush can drink about 2 buckets of water, and much less in cooler days. The next watering should be done when the moisture is completely absorbed and the top layer of the earth dries up.
The plant does not like weeds or other plants nearby. He needs space and loose soil, then he will delight with lush and long flowering.
Peony Bartzella considered a winter hardy species, therefore, does not need shelter for the winter. As soon as the snow thaws, a small layer of mulch is removed, since its buds immediately begin to grow.
Reproduction of the peony of the Ito hybrid is very simple - the bush is divided by the rhizome. The most favorable period for breeding is late August or early September. When planting a flower late, it is advisable to use growth stimulants so that the plant takes root better.
