For better seed germination and further successful plant development, experienced gardeners use growth stimulants. You can purchase them from the store or make your own. In terms of their effectiveness, home remedies will be in no way inferior to purchased ones.
Potato juice
Potato juice is suitable as a growth stimulant. It contains biologically active substances that have a positive effect on seed germination.
Cooking method:
- Freeze potatoes in the freezer.
- After completely defrosting the tubers, cut them into small cubes and pass through a garlic press or chop with a blender.
- Squeeze out the juice using cheesecloth.
- Soak the seeds in the resulting juice for 6-8 hours. It will take 12 hours for tomato seeds.
After this time, the seed will be completely ready for planting.
Aloe
A growth promoter can be made from indoor aloe leaves. The plant contains a unique set of nutrients. To use, you will need a copy that is at least 3 years old.
The procedure is as follows:
- Cut off the bottom, thickest and fleshy leaves.
- Rinse them with warm water.
- Fold in a plastic bag and refrigerate for 1 week.
- Chop the leaves kept in the cold. It is advisable to do this with your hands or a wooden crush. When in contact with metal, many useful substances are destroyed.
- Squeeze out the juice using cheesecloth.
- Mix it with water in a 1: 1 ratio.
- Place the seeds in the resulting mixture for 4-6 hours before planting.
Keep in mind that aloe juice is not suitable for celery, onion, and pepper seeds. It has a beneficial effect on other crops, increasing germination and strengthening the immunity of plants. In addition, aloe juice is suitable as a growth stimulant for bulbs and cuttings.
The recipe is simple:
- Mix 1 tbsp. l. juice and 250 ml of water.
- Transfer to a glass jar and cover.
- Place the jar in a cool, dark place for 1 week.
- Add boiled water to the mixture to make 5 liters.
The bulbs are soaked for 1 to 12 hours, cuttings for 4-6 hours. It is not necessary to rinse the material with water before planting.
Honey
Natural honey is a storehouse of useful substances. It is very simple to make a growth stimulator based on it - stir 1 tsp. honey in a glass of warm water. In such a solution, seeds and cuttings are kept for 5-6 hours, and bulbs - up to 12 hours.
This composition can also be used for watering seedlings. And in spring and summer, the garden plot is sprayed with honey solution to attract pollinating insects.
Infusion of onion peel
Onion husk growth stimulant is produced as follows:
- A handful of onion husks are placed in a jar and 500 ml of boiling water is poured.
- Add 1 tsp. wood ash and mix.
- Insist 3 days in a cool dark place.
The seeds are kept in the resulting product for 2-4 hours. For watering seedlings and seedlings, the infusion should be diluted with water in a ratio of 1: 3.
Experts recommend keeping seeds in water to swell before stimulants. Tap water is not good. Melt water made from pure snow works best. The seeds are soaked in it for several hours, after which they are sent to a growth stimulator. After it, the seed is always dried, but not washed.
