Bulbous indoor plants: name, description, photo

There are a lot of indoor plants, but those that bloom beautifully are especially loved. These include lush blooming flowers that grow well at home. Tall indoor plants

Canna hybrid is a colorful, catchy, rather large plant up to one meter in height. Large flowers form on each stemwhich can be purple, red, yellow, cream, orange or pink. Oblong canna leaves can be light green, dark green, bronze-red, brown with a purple tint, or striped. With age, three or four arrows may appear from one corm.

Hippeastrum has a rather large bulb, the diameter of which can reach 11 cm.On each stem, one to six large funnel-shaped flowers... Most often, flowering occurs in spring and winter, but sometimes it can bloom in summer. The most common types of hyperstrum include:

  1. The pink and white hippeastrum is shown in the photo.Hippeastrum striped is distinguished by a median keel with red-lilac stripes and elongated ovate white petals, between the edges of which there is a longitudinal strip.
  2. Hippeastrum graceful is a plant that can be between 45 and 70 cm high. Large, funnel-shaped greenish-white or whitish-yellow flowers form in January and May or June.
  3. Hippeastrum reticulated has a stem 30-50 cm high. Lanceolate leaves and a peduncle with 3-5 buds sprout from a small onion. The crimson red petals have numerous dark streaks.
  4. Hippeastrum royal is distinguished by linear-lanceolate leaves and a perianth with a red funnel-shaped tube and a whitish-green pattern in the pharynx.
  5. Hippeastrum Leopolda is a plant with a sturdy, two-flowered stem. Flowers up to 18 cm in diameter at the top are white and red in the middle.

Amaryllis is very similar to hippeatrum, but has an incomplete peduncle, blooms only once a year in the fall and regularly forms daughter bulbs. Amaryllis grow to a height of 50-70 cm... On each stem, 8–12 large pink-red flowers are formed. Three or four plants can be planted in one pot at once. With proper care, the flower can last for years.

Vallota belongs to the amaryllis family. It has reddish dark green leaves of a linear shape at the base. The length of each sheet reaches 65 cm, and the width is 3.5 cm. An umbrella with salmon, white or bright red flowers is formed on a long stem. After it has faded, you do not need to immediately pick off the flowers. You should wait until the flower stalks dry, and then cut them off.

Eucharis (see photo) can also be attributed to high flowers. The second name is the Amazonian lily. This beautiful plant bears a resemblance to the daffodil. Its snow-white, fragrant, flowers collected in an umbrella appear in October and bloom until winter... Then, in March, the eucharis has a dormant period, and in the spring it blooms again. Three flowers form at once on one long stem of a eucharis 50 cm tall.

In adult plants, two peduncles are formed at once, which develop within 10-14 days. By removing faded flowers, the eucharis bloom can be extended. In summer it can be grown in the garden, planting in March or April to a depth of 25-30 cm.

Unusual bulbous

Almost everyone is accustomed to amaryllis, hippeastrum, hyacinth. But there are also different species with names that are unusual for some growers and unusual flowers:

  1. Gemantus comes from the wild African continent. It reaches a height of 30-40 cm and is distinguished by bright fluffy inflorescences (pictured) of white-cream or red color. It usually blooms in spring or summer. From one bulb grows from two to six transverse leathery or fleshy, short petiolate or sessile leaves. At home, only hybrid varieties of hementus can be kept.
  2. Weltheimia is an unusual flowering bulbous plant.Weltheimia - 60 cm high with large bulbs, bare ground leaves with fibrous edges and bare succulent stems. Drooping reddish, yellow, pink long-tubular flowers are collected in dense racemes. It blooms originally, effectively and for a long time in cool rooms from January to March. Depending on wintering, it can live from one to five years.
  3. Hymenokallis It has absolutely crazy shape, incredibly original white buds. On one inflorescence in the form of an umbrella, more than ten flowers can form, which exude a strong aroma. Hymenokallis refers to unpretentious flowers. It can be grown in almost any conditions, but it will not bloom in dark rooms. The generic name hymenokallis is formed from two words and is translated from ancient Greek as "beautiful film". Looking at the photo of the flower, you can understand the reason for this name.
  4. Gloriosa is a flower with thin stems that require a mandatory garter to the support. A dwarf plant that rarely grows above 30 cm has ovoid sessile leaves and long legs, at the top of which flowers are formed. The blossoming dark purple, pale yellow, crimson or reddish-green flowers look like a flame blown by the wind.
  5. Eukomis popularly called "pineapple" because its inflorescences are similar to this exotic fruit. It reaches 70 cm in height and begins to bloom only after more than 6-8 leaves are formed on it. Greenish-claret or whitish-yellow flowers in the form of small bells form a sultan inflorescence.For good flowering, eukomis is recommended to be placed on a southern window, shading from direct sunlight.

Growing bulbous plants in indoor conditions is no more difficult than in the country or in the garden. When properly positioned and cared for, these are effective blooming and beautiful flowers will delight with their lush flowering even in winter of the year.
